A Week in the Life of McHenry County, IL.

— Announcing a Special Photo Book Project —

Friends of the Old Courthouse invites you to participate in its new photo project titled A Week in the Life of McHenry County, IL. This is a fundraiser and showcase project—NOT a competition.

WHAT IS IT?

This fundraising project for Friends of the Old Courthouse will end with a large format commemorative, coffee table book showcasing the beauty, diversity, and people of our county. The book will be sold at McHenry County locations.

Proceeds exceeding publication costs will go towards historic restoration efforts for the Old McHenry County Courthouse and Sheriff’s House on the Woodstock Square. Friends is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization.

Photos can feature whatever photographers see that are representative of McHenry County, IL (keeping them family-friendly): outdoor shots, family gatherings, work, sports, local arts and activities, architecture, weather events, agriculture—whatever shows their unique view of the county.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?

Anyone, from professionals to smart phone only amateurs and all levels in between are encouraged to participate. Photos must be taken within the McHenry County, IL boundaries. There is a limit of 125 photographers, so pre-registration is encouraged.

WHEN IS THIS HAPPENING?

Registration begins March 1, 2017 and ends May 6, 2017. The main rule is that images must be taken in the same seven-day period: May 6, to May 14, 2017. Photos must be submitted by May 31, 2017.
—No registration refunds for late submissions.

HOW MUCH IS ENTRY FEE, AND WHAT DO I GET?

The photographer entry fee is $25. You are guaranteed that at least one of your (max. 10) shots will be included in the book, along with its description.

Front and back cover photos will be decided by the board of Friends of the Old Courthouse. Photographers, their name and city of residence, photo date and description will be listed in the book’s index.
